Now we can proudly inform you that we have a third summer release; the thirteenth (!) Rosa CD is the new one by that great band from California, Mother Superior. Three Headed Dog is one of the loudest CD's we released and it is partly produced by their friend, the legendary Daniel Lanois. To promote Three Headed Dog the band will tour Europe this summer. Mother Superior Mother Superior continuously attracts a strong and devoted following by touring the world and performing an average of 150 live shows per year. They have built a reputation playing packed clubs and rock festivals and have received rave reviews for their energetic performances. Rolling Stone has described them as "Led Zeppelin with a full erection, Decca-period Rolling Stones, and early ZZ Top with the fury of the Stooges." The All Music Guide mentions them in one breath with Gov't Mule and The Black Crowes. They have toured and recorded with producer/performer Daniel Lanois and recently he joined them onstage for shows at L.A. clubs like the Roxy and Spaceland. He produced two songs on the band's new CD Three Headed Dog (their ninth and definitely their best) on which he also plays pedal steel guitar and mandolin. Mother Superior (guitarist/vocalist Jim Wilson, bassist Marcus Blake and drummer Matt Tecu) have also traveled the world with punk rock icon and good friend Henry Rollins and they have been featured on CDs as the second incarnation of Rollins Band. The Rosa Records release Three Headed Dog contains 18 songs with a total time of just over an hour. It's an eclectic mix of Kinks/Who-style rockers and quick bursts of metallic punk like (I'm) Obsessed, Sleep and Beg Borrow Steal. The .357 String Band The .357 String Band hails from Milwaukee, Wisconsin and produces bluegrass with an attitude, Bill Monroe with a lot of tattoos really. That's why they call it streetgrass or 'amphetamine-fueled mountain music'. What the heck... All those words only prove that Ghost Town is a very special CD, that even tops the best work of their friends Th' Legendary Shack Shakers and The Hackensaw Boys. To use one of our favorite expressions: hearing is believing. Jaap Boots The man who is responsible for Rosa's first CD in the Dutch language is Jaap Boots, who most of you will know as program maker for VPRO radio. He has made a divorce record titled Afkuil. It will make you mad and bring tears to your eyes at the same time. The release party is on Sunday May 20 at 16.00 hrs in Desmet Studio, Plantage Middenlaan 4A in Amsterdam.
