Warning: The Dexateens are live just as devastating as on their new cd, on which they sound as the sons of The Faces, The Rolling Stones and Lynyrd Skynyrd and as the talented stepbrothers of the Drive-By Truckers.

The Dam in Paradiso
On Tuesday, October 24, The Dam present their debut album Beautiful Trash in the Paradiso, Amsterdam. For those who don't know it yet, The Dam is the new band of Ronnie Splinter, guitarist of the legendary Outsiders, and together with Wally Tax responsible for classics like Touch, Lying All The Time and Monkey On Your Back. His new partners are singer-songwriter Jerry Turner, also a singer with a unique personal style, and furthermore Jim Pacobs, Fat Pete, and Ruud van Meerlant. For The Dam-cd they wrote thirteen songs that are all classics in the making. Call it 21st century beatmusic, call it garage, call it heavy pop, call it rock 'n' roll, it's all correct. Live The Dam is a train on fire.
The concert upstairs in Paradiso starts at 10.30 PM, after Tony Joe White is finished.

Denvis and Joe Cocker
We hadn't thought about that, the credit goes to Jan Vollaard. In his review in NRC.next of Denvis' cd Comin' Home he compared Denvis, the wild man of Dutch rock 'n' roll, not only with Southside Johnny but he also thought he sounded as Joe Cocker after a night of heavy drinking. It was a glowing review that received four out of five stars.

Wheels On Fire
The Rosa-debut of this band from Athens, Ohio also got a lot of great reviews and was the cd of the week in that great radioshow Boogie Nights, which you can hear every working day from 7PM till 8PM on the Concertzender. Listen to it if you can.

Expected
Next month Rosa Records releases the cd Goodbye Girl And The Big Apple Circus by Chris Allen, former frontman of Rosavelt. The record is produced by Don Dixon and a must buy for those who love Paul Westerberg and other music with lots of balls and rough edges. Other releases planned in the more distant future: Rootsclub, and I Can Lick Any Sonafabitch In The House.
